In the previous chapters we played 4/4 patterns in quarter note, sixteenth note, eighth note and triplets against 4/4 melodies of the same and also against melodies in 3, 5, and 7.
In this chapter we will combine 3 with 5, 3 with 7, and 5 with 7. First we will deal with 3 with 5, with each rhythm in 3 & 5 being taken from chapter 3. Then 3 with 7 and finally 5 with 7 again using the melodies you have learned from chapter 3.
For the following pages play a quarter note bass drum and hi-hat pattern.

then, after learning the rhythms, try improvising with both bass drum and hi-hat.
After you have learned the rhythms that are shown on the next few pages, go back to chapter 3 and try combining more of the melodies together, either 3 with 5, 3 with 7, or 5 with 7.
